Community leader from Rizal wins Pinoy Tsuper Hero 3
After a year-long search that gathered over 30,000 applications from all over the Philippines, Alberto Abad, a 45-year-old driver from Rizal, emerged as the newest winner of Pinoy Tsuper Hero. During the awards night at the Dolphy Theater at the ABS-CBN Studios on May 11, Abad bested 19 other finalists and took home an accumulated cash prize of P140,000, Phoenix fuel and lubricant products worth P50,000, a family accident insurance worth P1 million, a Phoenix Petroleum watch, and a brand new Suzuki Ertiga.
Abad is the third winner of the Pinoy Tsuper Hero contest, which was first launched in 2015. He joins the ranks of Reynaldo Samonte of Batangas and Edwin Escamos of Iloilo City who previously held the title. Abad was chosen through a series of screenings including trainings, deliberations, and panel interviews.
“We congratulate Mr. Alberto Abad for winning the Pinoy Tsuper Hero,” said Phoenix Petroleum Chief Operating Officer Henry Fadullon. “Being the Pinoy Tsuper Hero, while it is a privilege, is also a great responsibility. We hope that even after the competition, our drivers remain and continue to be role models to other Filipino drivers. For our part, we, at Phoenix Petroleum, will remain committed to improving the quality of our drivers on the road and continue to ensure that they uphold the values of a true Pinoy Tsuper Hero.”
A known and recognized community leader, Abad was a standout among the contestants with his strong willpower and enthusiasm to learn. He has implemented numerous programs in his community, such as annual medical and dental missions, regular seminars about traffic rules and regulations, environment protection, and financial literacy for his fellow drivers. With skills he developed from his past experience, he has also been elected to various positions in different organizations.
Besides Abad, three other individuals were recognized this year: Johnny Damian of Aklan as Pinoy Tsuper Hero 3 first runner-up, Jiny Caballero of Cebu for being the first female driver who completed and reached the finals of the competition, and Delfin Encabo of Cavite who was voted as the most Tsuper Friendly among all the finalists.
The top 20 finalists were given an accumulated cash prize of P25,000, Phoenix fuel and lubricant products worth P50,000, and a family accident insurance worth P250,000 as consolation prizes.
Launched three years ago, Pinoy Tsuper Hero is the collaborative advocacy campaign of Phoenix Petroleum, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, and Bayan Academy. The brainchild of Phoenix Petroleum President and CEO Dennis Uy, the campaign aims to bring out the “superhero” in every driver and promote driving as a noble profession. It recognizes and empowers outstanding Filipino drivers who make a big difference in the community, exemplify discipline on the road, and protect the environment.
Regional finalists are selected from drivers who register at the selected Phoenix stations in their respective areas during the registration period. During the qualifying period, candidates attend trainings about road safety, environment protection, and leadership. Applicants are screened and the finalists are called in for training and mentoring by industry experts.
