Jr.NBA/Jr. WNBA Cebu breaks record

A record-breaking number of basketball players and coaches attended Phase 1 of the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Schools Clinics and Coaches Clinics in Cebu last week.

A total of 1,152 participants from 86 schools, 11 cities and three provinces joined the event held on January 25 and 26, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Ateneo de Cebu High School Campus.

Jr. NBA presented by Alaska and in partnership with Phoenix Petroleum is back this year bigger than ever with the introduction of Jr. WNBA, a new program introduced exclusively for girls. Ten Jr. NBA and four Jr. WNBA All-Stars will be selected in National Training Camp and be rewarded with a once-in-a-lifetime NBA experience later in the year.

Participants from Phase 1 will be invited to the Regional Selection Camp in March and April to determine the region’s representatives to the National Training Camp in April.

Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Schools Clinic and Coaches Clinic tipped off in Metro Manila on January 18, 2014. After Cebu, Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA will visit Puerto Princesa and Dagupan City, and for the first time, Surigao and Iloilo City.

Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA aims to develop skills, build character, and promote an active lifestyle in young Filipinos nationwide. Participants will also receive world-class basketball instruction and learn about the S.T.A.R. values of Sportmanship, Teamwork, positive Attitude and Respect.

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines is the official partner of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA in Cebu City and will be hosting all its program events in the city.

The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA is presented by Alaska Milk, with official partners Phoenix Petroleum and Gatorade and is also supported by KFC and Spalding. Official NBA broadcasters are Basketball TV, NBA Premium TV and ABS-CBN Sports.
