Ten Visayan players to go to Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Training Camp
Ten promising basketball players from Visayas – seven boys and three girls – were chosen to advance to the National Training Camp of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA in Manila.
The Cebu regional selection was attend by 254 aspiring Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA players aged 10-14 on March 23 and 24, 2014 at Ateneo de Cebu Sacred Heart Campus in Canduman, Mandaue City, Cebu. Phoenix Petroleum is an event partner and host for the Cebu leg of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA presented by Alaska.
Five boys and three girls from Cebu and two boys from Bacolod bested 40 boys and 21 girls regional finalists and will represent Central Visayas at the National Training Camp of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA in Manila.
The 10 qualifiers are Wayne Besaluña, Andrew Velasco, Steven Co, Jomari Ranuco, Jethro Rocamora, Mary Jean Pascual, Ma. Kassandra Bayking, and Lymiel Padilla from Cebu, and Andre Dadivas and Donn Lim from Bacolod.
The finalists were chosen for their all-around basketball skills and for how they exhibit the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude and Respect. The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Cebu regional selection camp culminated with a book donation, book reading and early Brigada Eskwela on March 25, 2014 at Pasil Elementary School, Cebu City by NBA Cares and Phoenix Philippines Foundation.
